Community Review Now Underway for the University of Maryland East Campus Redevelopment |
| University of Maryland, College Park, in partnership with the Foulger-Pratt/Argo Investments development team, has begun planning for the redevelopment of a 38-acre parcel of its campus as a lively, mixed-use town center. Projected uses include an upscale hotel, offices, market rate and graduate student housing, and a variety of retail options including upscale stores as well as authentic local shops and restaurants. |
| As part of the planning process, the University and developer initiated discussions with the surrounding community a few months ago. A major component of this outreach was the formation of a Community Review Steering Committee, which had its first meeting on August 13. Meetings are open to the public, although discussion is limited to committee members. Members of the public are encouraged to pass any comments and questions directly to committee members. |
| As a result of discussion at the first meeting, the preliminary schedule of meetings has been adjusted (there is no meeting Monday, August 27) to better accommodate the sequence of topics and assure the availability of team leaders. Future meetings will be held in Marie Mount Hall room 0100 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm on the following dates: September 4, September 20, October 8, October 22 and October 29. Parking is generally available on campus, with nearby parking in Lot C2, adjacent to Lee Building. |
| The revised schedule and other important information for previous and upcoming meetings will be posted on the East Campus website, www.eastcampus.umd.edu. |
